Does science have all the answers? ›

There's nothing like popping on a lab coat to make it seem like you know what you're talking about, but do scientists really have all the answers? Actually, as it turns out, no. There are loads of everyday things that we take for granted, that science simply can't explain.

Like all disciplines, it is limited by the unique tools at its disposal: in the case of science, it is the tools of mathematics and empirical observation. The tools of science are quantitative; they are therefore limited in the possible answers they might give to quantitative answers.

Science can not solve all of our problems. While scientific understanding can help battle things like disease, hunger, and poverty when applied properly, it does not do so completely and automatically. Furthermore, there are many areas of life where science can have little impact.

So, a scientific theory is a tested and verified explanation of some aspect of the natural world. It's not a guess. It's not wishful thinking.

Science is often considered a tougher and more rigorous stream than Commerce because the latter has more scoring subjects which are theoretical while Science has technical and math-oriented subjects which can be harder to master!

What happens to us after we die? How did so much life appear on our planet when others seem devoid of any species at all? Who, if anyone, pulls the strings of our universe? Is it some all-powerful god in control or are there physical and mathematical principles driving the engine of our existence?

Even though certain features of the universe seem to require the existence of a multiverse, nothing has been directly observed that suggests it actually exists. So far, the evidence supporting the idea of a multiverse is purely theoretical, and in some cases, philosophical.

There are no absolute truths in science; there are only approximate truths. Whether a statement, theory, or framework is true or not depends on quantitative factors and how closely you examine or measure the results.

Can you be wrong in science? ›

Making errors in science is just part of the process and allows scientists to learn and broaden what we know. It's only by being wrong that we ever learn what's right.

There is always some uncertainty in science.

Scientific methods often have variability that can't be avoided. For example, devices like scales and thermometers can give slightly different results even when measuring the same thing. Data can change as well.

In science, a fact is an observation that's been confirmed so many times that scientists can, for all intents and purposes, accept it as "true." But everything in science comes with a level of uncertainty, so nothing is ever scientifically "true" beyond a shadow of a doubt.

But since scientists are human (most of them, anyway), even science is never free from error. In fact, mistakes are fairly common in science, and most scientists tell you they wouldn't have it any other way.

Yes because… Science is a concept we use to explain the multitude of phenomena that occur. It is meant to explain the reason for all of them occurring.

The Falsification Principle, proposed by Karl Popper, is a way of demarcating science from non-science. It suggests that for a theory to be considered scientific it must be able to be tested and conceivably proven false. For example, the hypothesis that "all swans are white," can be falsified by observing a black swan.

Science is not opinion. It is real knowledge gained by having a theory, testing that theory with experimentation, and arriving at provable fact. Most of us learned about scientific method in school.

Math is not science. Sciences seek to understand some aspect of phenomena, and is based on empirical observations, while math seeks to use logic to understand and often prove relationships between quantities and objects which may relate to no real phenomena.

Which is harder, mathematics or science? For students who understand mathematical reasoning and logic, mathematics is easier because everything in mathematics makes sense, is logically supported and can be clearly explained.

What's the hardest science? ›

Chemistry is famous for being one of the hardest subjects ever, so it's no surprise that a Chemistry degree is fiercely challenging. Just one topic in Chemistry (for example, organic chemistry) is incredibly complex.

As a body of knowledge, science is limited by our ability to observe and measure the world. It is also limited by the sheer volume of data available to us, and the uneven quality of the information we do have. It is expensive to collect, verify, process, and store information.

Science Cannot Provide Complete Answers to All Questions

There are many matters that cannot usefully be examined in a scientific way. There are, for instance, beliefs that—by their very nature—cannot be proved or disproved (such as the existence of supernatural powers and beings, or the true purposes of life).

Science is difficult to learn; however this makes the sense of achievement, both as a teacher and a learner, even greater.

Scientific laws or laws of science are statements, based on repeated experiments or observations, that describe or predict a range of natural phenomena.

Performing scientific experiments and studies is limited in resources like people, time, and money. Studies are often limited in the number of people they can use, or the amount of time in which data can be measured. So, scientists sometimes have to make conclusions based on numbers from a potentially limited study.

Science does try to build true knowledge of how the world works, but there are other sorts of knowledge that people also call “the truth.” For example, many have faith in spiritual truths, yet science cannot investigate this truth at all — or even tell us whether it exists.

They work with ideas, hypotheses and theories, and come to conclusions and make predictions. They are not always right nor do they expect to be. What we know about science comes from new research and from old research that is looked at again and again.
