If you’re wondering what Duolingo Achievements are and how to earn them, this Guide is definitely for you! I will go through each Duolingo Achievement that is currently available on Duolingo and what you need to do to get it. Let’s go!
Where to Find Duolingo Achievements
To find Duolingo Achievements on the app, you head to the Profile tab which is a little head on the bottom of the screen.
After you click on that tab, it’ll take you to your profile. From there, just scroll down until you see “Achievements.”
If you’re super into language learning, or maybe just want to get into it, you should definitely check out this book on Amazon about how to stay fluent in a language over time without losing fluency!
What Are All of the Duolingo Achievements That you Can Earn?
Here is a list of all the Duolingo Achievements that you can currently earn on Duolingo:
- Weekend Warrior
How Do You Earn Achievements on Duolingo?
Each Achievement has different criteria required before you can earn it. Some even have different levels that you can earn before the Achievement turns “gold.” Once it turns gold, it means that you can accomplished all of the requirements and you don’t need to do anything else!
Can You Lose an Achievement?
It is possible to lose an achievement on Duolingo, but only because Duolingo sometimes gets rid of Achievements.
Duolingo is always adding and taking away Achievements.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if Duolingo added more levels to certain Achievements in the future. In that case, you would lose the “gold”, but you wouldn’t lose the levels that you have already accomplished.
If you want to learn a language faster than ever, I also highly recommend reading this polyglot’s book on how to learn a language in JUST 3 months.
Duolingo Achievements Not Showing Up
If you followed the instructions above on where to find the Duolingo Achievements, try quitting Duolingo and opening it again. If this doesn’t work, you might need to delete the app and re-download it.
If they still aren’t showing up, head to the Desktop Version of Duolingo and see if they show up there.
Just click on your profile picture in the top right then click on the Profile tab and scroll until you see the Achievements.
What are the Requirements for Each Achievement?
Alright, now let’s go over each Achievement and how you can earn it!
I seriously would not be able to learn languages without italki (I’m taking 3 classes per week right now) try out a class and you’ll thank me later. They’re usually $9 or less!
The Challenger Achievement
The first Achievement on Duolingo is “Challenger.” This is a newer achievement since this is a relatively new feature in the Duolingo Leagues section of the app.
In order to earn this Achievement, you need to earn 40XP in the leaderboard’s timed challenges. This means you would go into the Leagues tab and do a timed challenge there.
The Challenger Achievement has 5 levels, each upping the number of XP that you would need to earn in the timed challenges.
- Level 1: Earn 40 XP
- Level 2: Earn 120 XP
- Level 3: Earn 500 XP
- Level 4: Earn 1000 XP
- Level 5: Earn 5000 XP
The Wildfire Achievement
The next Achievement is the Wildfire Achievement. This one is broken up into levels and you will need to complete all the levels in order to earn it and turn it gold.
The Wildfire rewards you for keeping your streak on Duolingo (which means using Duolingo every day).
To find out more about how to maintain your streak and go up in Wildfire levels, read this blog post where I give you the exact way that I have done it!
But here are the Duolingo Wildfire Levels in order:
- Level 1: 3 Day Streak
- Level 2: 7 Day Streak
- Level 3: 14 Day Streak
- Level 4: 30 Day Streak
- Level 5: 50 Day Streak
- Level 6: 75 Day Streak
- Level 7: 125 Day Streak
- Level 8: 180 Day Streak
- Level 9: 250 Day Streak
- Level 10: 365 Day Streak
The Sage Achievement
The Sage Achievement means that you have earned at least 30,000 XP on Duolingo. This is between all of the courses that you are in, so they total all of that XP together.
30,000 XP is a ton of XP!
Here are the Levels for the Sage Achievement:
- Level 1: Earn 100 XP
- Level 2: Earn 250 XP
- Level 3: Earn 500 XP
- Level 4: Earn 1000 XP
- Level 5: Earn 2000 XP
- Level 6: Earn 4000 XP
- Level 7: Earn 7,500 XP
- Level 8: Earn 12,500 XP
- Level 9: Earn 20,000 XP
- Level 10: Earn 30,000 XP.
To find out how many XP you currently have, read this post for the exact instructions on where to find your XP, what it is, and how to earn more of it!
The easiest way is to scroll up to the top of the Profile tab and you’ll see the number in your Statistics. I currently have just over 50,000 XP.
The Scholar Achievement
In order to earn the Scholar Achievement, you’ll need to have learned at least 2000 words in a single Duolingo course. So that means that it is not totaled between all of the courses that you are currently enrolled in.
Here are the levels that lead up to finishing the Scholar Achievement. Remember that these are for a single course, not all of them added together:
- Level 1: Learn 50 new words
- Level 2: Learn 100 new words
- Level 3: Learn 175 new words
- Level 4: Learn 250 new words
- Level 5: Learn 450 new words
- Level 6: Learn 500 new words
- Level 7: Learn 750 new words
- Level 8: Learn 1000 new words
- Level 9: Learn 1500 new words
- Level 10: Learn 2000 new words
It’s a bit more difficult to check how close you are to earning this achievement since Duolingo doesn’t provide this statistic on the app itself.
The first way to check how close you are is by logging into the Duolingo Desktop Version, then clicking on the 3 dots icon that says “More” and clicking into the “Words” tab.
This will tell you how many words you have learned so far (obviously I haven’t learned much Greek yet!).
However, if I click over to French or Italian, I can see that I have almost 3000 words learned so therefore I have earned this Achievement.
Another way to do this is by using the Duome website.
In order to do find the number of words you have learned per course, you need to type duome.eu/yourusernameonduolingo. In my case, this isduome.eu/dayna255732.
If you are learning more than one language on Duolingo, all you need to do is go into the app and switch to your other language course and then refresh the Duome page and it will show the stats for that language.
You can scroll down and the number next to the small “W” is the number of words you have learned in that course.
The Regal Achievement
You earn the Regal Achievement by getting at least 100 crowns between all of your courses. There are 10 levels total in this achievement.
Here are the levels that lead up to earning 100 crowns total:
- Level 1: Earn 3 crowns.
- Level 2: Earn 7 crowns.
- Level 3: Earn 12 crowns.
- Level 4: Earn 18 crowns.
- Level 5: Earn 25 crowns.
- Level 6: Earn 35 crowns.
- Level 7: Earn 50 crowns.
- Level 8: Earn 65 crowns.
- Level 9: Earn 80 crowns.
- Level 10: Earn 100 crowns.
The Champion Acheivement
The Champion Achievement is earned as you go up leagues, which you can read about in this post.
Here are the 10 levels you’ll need to complete to get the Champion Achievement:
- Level 1: Unlock Leaderboards by completing 10 lessons
- Level 2: Advance to the SilverLeague.
- Level 3: Advance to the Gold League.

- Level 7: Advance to the Amethyst League.
- Level 8: Advance to the Pearl League.
- Level 9: Advance to the Obsidian League.
- Level 10: Advance to the Diamond League.
The Sharpshooter Achievement on Duolingo
The Sharpshooter Achievement is earned by completing lessons without making mistakes. The more lessons you complete in a row, the faster you move up these levels. There are 5 levels total in this achievement.
Here are the levels for the Sharpshooter Achievement:
- Level 1: Complete a lesson with no mistakes.
- Level 2: Complete 5 lessons with no mistakes.
- Level 3: Complete 20 lessons with no mistakes.
- Level 4: Complete 50 lessons with no mistakes.
- Level 5: Complete 100 lessons with no mistakes.
The Conqueror Achievement
The Conquerer Achievement is one of the more difficult Achievements to earn and will probably take the longest. Each level requires you to earn a certain number of crowns in EVERY skill in a Duolingo course.
The first level is to earn one crown for every skill, which is also how you earn your Duolingo Golden Owl Trophy.
This is quite the accomplishment in itself, but you’ll need to keep earning crowns in order to get to the top level of this achievement.
Here are the levels in the Conqueror Achievement:
- Level 1: Earn 1 crown in every skill in a course
- Level 2: Earn 2 crowns in every skill in a course
- Level 3: Earn 3 crowns in every skill in a course
- Level 4: Earn 4 crowns in every skill in a course
- Level 5: Earn 5 crowns in every skill in a course
Definitely check out my Duolingo Study Plan if you’re trying to reach this one, as you’ll need to stay super motivated!
The Winner Achievement
The Winner Achievement is earned by finishing #1 in the League (also known as leaderboard).
Read this post to help you strategize and earn this achievement much faster!
The Legendary Achievement
The Legendary Achievement is earned by finishing #1 in the Diamond League, which is the highest League available on Duolingo.
This is super difficult to achieve, but the best way to do this would be to get into the Diamond League but stay towards the bottom of the leaderboard.
You’ll want to be as far down as you can without getting demoted. The reason for this is that Duolingo will be more likely to put you in a leaderboard with less active users the next week which will make it easier to rise to the top.
However, even in this week, you’ll want to earn less points in the beginning of the week and just try to stay in the top 10. On the last day, that’s when you’ll want to stay glued to the leaderboard and keep completing lessons or stories until you hit #1.
The Friendly Achievement
The Friendly Achievement is super easy to attain, all you need to do is follow 3 other people!
I’d love to be one of them, follow me at dayna255732! (:
If you want, you can even follow some of the best users on Duolingo! Check out who has earned the most XP and who has the longest streak on Duolingo.
The Weekend Warrior Achievement
The Weekend Warrior is another easy Achievement to earn. Just complete a lesson on Saturday and Sunday this weekend and you’ll be golden (literally! (: )
The Photogenic Achievement
The last Achievement on Duolingo is the Photogenic Achievement. Just add a profile picture to your profile! If you’re brand new to Duolingo, check out my Duolingo Tutorial which will walk you through exactly how to set up your profile.
